How To Plan Your Visit To Kashmir -- Heaven On Earth

It is summer time and many persons and families would like to visit the heaven on earth, Kashmir.The official season stars from April 1 onwards and lasts till September end. Nowadays winter tourism is also conducted esp. in Gulmarg for skiing during late December/January.How should you plan your visit to Kashmir is described below :

How to go about visiting the Kashmir Valley and enjoying its scenery and mountains and gardens.One should travel at least one way between Srinagar and Jammu by bus to enjoy the mountain travel and watch the scenery change, When going from Jammu to Srinagar, one should

start at early morning from Jammu Bus Stand situated next to Jammu Tawi Railway station. One can travel by taxi also. When one reaches the Jawahar Tunnel and crosses it and after a few meters the bus will take a left turn. One should ask the driver to stop for a few moments. For at the turning lies the wholeKashmir  valley below and it is a sight for the eyes to be relished for a long time.

Next day one should walk ealy morning to the Bund on Jehlum river or to yhe Dal lake and have tea in the open. It is a memorable experience.After lunch at one of the many restaurants one should visit the Sankaracharya Temple situated on the hill opposite the Dal Lake. Afterwards one should take a shikara ride to the Char Chinar located in the middle of the Dal Lake.At  the time of sunset one should be in a shikara in the Dal Lake and observe  the changing  colors of the barren adjoining mountains something you will remember for a lifetime.  

Next  day one should go to Sonmarg the ice glacier. It will be a day trip with enough time to enjoy upon the glacier and play with snow. You will be tired upon return so have a good meal  and sleep well.

The next day one should go to Pahalgam and ideally one should go for at least two if not three days and stay there. The natural beauty of the mountains with the Lidder river flowing in between and a number of meadows to be walked upon will transport

the tourist to a dream world altogether and it is worth the expense and stay.Upon return to Srinagar in the evening one can visit a near by shopping centre and have feel of Srinagar.

The next day one should visit the famous Mughal Gardens like Chashme Shahi,Nishat ,Shalimar and Harwan.One can take cooked food and snacks and enjoy them at one of the gardens. One should not rush thru but walk and enjoy them at liesure and  imagine Shah Jehan and Jehangir walking these gardens.

The next day one can go on a day long trip to Gulmarg and also enjoy the ropeway at Khilanmarg. The smell of fresh air at these heights will remain with you for a lifetime.

The next day one can go to the local markets and shop for dry fruits like almonds,walnuts or hunt for walnut  wood decoration items or look for paper machie items. Ladies can go for Kashmiri silk sarees or dresses. One can bargain for pure saffron produced in India only in  Kashmir.One can go for shawls and other exotic dress wears for both men and women.

The religous minded can go to visit the famous Kheer Bhawani temple at Tulla Mulla around 40 kms from Srinagar and also visit the holy mosques in of which has the holy relic of the Prophet's hair. On return trip to Jammu one can also visit the Vaishno Devi temple at Katra and visit famous temples at Jammu before catching train from there.

In this way one can enjoy one's trip to Kashmir and remember it for a long time to come.Only friendly advice is not to rush but be laid back to maximise your pleasure and enjoyment midst lakes and mountains before you return back to the  burning plains.
