The opening match of the Indian Premier League season five (IPL-V) is going to be played between the two time champions Chennai Super Kings (CSK) and Mumbai Indians (MI), at the Chidambaram Stadium, in Chennai on April 4,2012 from 7 pm onwards. Both these teams are the strongest in the tournament and this match will set the tone for the rest of the matches in the eight week long IPL V.
CSK are led by the charismatic M S Dhoni and MI have a new skipper in Harbhajan Singh. Dhoni will naturally be looking forward to completing a hat trick of the titleand Harbhajan will try to begin his captains journey with a victory. Both the teams are equally matched but MI seem to have slight edge.
CSK has besides Dhoni, Suresh Raina, S Badrinath, Murli Vijay and the all rounder Ravinder Jadeja.The Australian Douge Bollinger and South African Albie Morkel will be in charge of the fast attack and the spin department will be the domian of Ravichandran Ashwin.
The Mumbai Indians will have the services of the now much relieved of the tension of scoring 100th 100, Sachin Tendulkar. He is now also free of the responsibilities of captaincy and thus can look to concentrating on his batting skills. Besides him there are Rohit Sharma,the big hitting Kieron Pollard,Herchelle
The opening match will be a cracker of a match and will be followed by IPL fans with considerable interest everywhere.CSK are playing on their home ground and in front of their home crowd.They would like to use both these advantages to start their march in the IPL V with a victory. For the Mumbai Indians,Sachin would like to freely score on one of his favorite grounds and Harbhajan will lead with confidence after having led them to championship victory in the CLT20 last year in which match Sachin did not play due to injury.
In the IPL V tournament being inaugrated today(April ,2012),CSK will look forward to becoming the champions for the third time having won back to back in 2010 and 2011 while Mumbai Indians will continue to fight to taste their maiden victory.We can all look forward to yet another two months of rocking cricket every afternoon and evenings.
